2 Tips to Help You Create Content FAST!

You already know that creating content that is compelling, informative and authentic can be a game changer for your business; however, if you are like most people you are left with one question:

Where do I begin?!

This is a fair question, because it is not enough to just make a piece of content, you need to have a strategy that will allow you to efficiently make ALOT of content that adds to your overall marketing goal.

Fear not! Here are 2 tips that are going to help you on your way:

Create Pillar Content!

One of the best things you can do for your content strategy is to stop thinking of all content as “stand alone.”

One great way to create ALOT of content quickly is to start by creating a large piece of content and then breaking it down into multiple pieces.

An example of this would be to tape a 30-40 minute long interview. From that one piece you would have:

  • One long form video

  • Multiple shorter clips of you answering each question.

  • Even shorter sound bite clips that stand out as impactful

But the fun doesn’t stop there!

  • Each of the shorter clips can be fleshed out into a blog about that single question (all linking back to the video!)

  • The sound bites make great social media post on their own, but can also be turned into graphics

Furthermore, over time that content ads up! If you make sure to organize your clips and blogs as you create them, you can create collections on your website answering questions for you customers!

In this way, that one interview, can turn into dozens of pieces of useful content that compound over time.

And this strategy can be used for content you’ve already created! Reuse and repurpose old content to beef up your library.

Speaking of making all this video content brings up an important topic.

Don’t Make Excuses: Just Create Video Content!

Video is king. If you are not working it into your marketing plan, then you are are missing a real opportunity.

Let’s address the elephant in the room - the number one reason that people don’t make videos for their business is because they feel embarrassed to do so. This is a completely normal human emotion, but let us start by addressing the main excuses we give ourselves:

  • I don’t know that I am doing.

  • I don’t know what to talk about.

  • I don’t like how I look.

  • I don’t like how I sound.

  • I don’t have time.

You are not necessarily reading this blog for a pep talk (although if you are - you rock! Keep being you!). So the fact that you rock notwithstanding:

  • I don’t know that I am doing.

You know more than you think! At the end of the day, people want to get a real look at YOU.

  • I don’t know what to talk about.

Start with either the fundamentals or whatever is trending in your area of expertise.

  • I don’t like how I look or sound

This is more in your head than anything else. As someone who was an acting teacher for many years and filmed hundreds of taped auditions for movies and TV shows big and small: You look like you - that is what prospective clients want to see.

  • I don’t have time.

Maybe this is 100% true. Or perhaps it is the idea of spending time with minor video edits

SO, if I’ve won you over, pick a simple topic you know well about your industry, turn your camera on “Selfie” mode, and start recording!
